Voyager 1 now drifts at a staggering distance from Earth, venturing into the depths of space. Its journey bridges the realms of the micro and macro worlds, but it also exposes the ongoing emptiness of space.
On the macro scale, Voyager has traveled billions of miles, piercing the interstellar void and offering us glimpses of distant galaxies, where countless stars dance in constellations. It reminds us of the vastness of the universe, where our earth is but a white dot.
Conversely, on the micro scale, Voyager’s journey mirrors the subatomic dance within our own bodies. Within our cells, atoms whirl and electrons orbit like tiny cosmic travelers, echoing the celestial swirl unfolding far beyond our world.
This project consists of a microscope on top of a transparent sphere that people can interact with by rotating the sphere with their fingers. When the microscope detects motion, Voyager’s current distance from earth is displayed underneath the microscopic footage in kilometers. On top of this footage, a virtual particle system interacts with the detected movement, echoing a stellar system.
